Construction project management is the use of various principles, procedures and policies to successfully achieve quality, time and budget objectives. In short, the process of managing construction projects can be called. The ultimate goal of construction project management is; customer needs to be fully implemented in terms of both functionality and budget.

Project management is the foundation on which every construction project is based. A construction project manager has to acquire a variety of skills and competences by establishing a functional connection with a large number of teams to implement the project.

 

Project management processes are divided into five groups:

  •  Initiation of the project: The Project Manager should evaluate the work situation to determine whether the project is appropriate and feasible. When all parties agree, a business project initiation certificate is issued. Project start-up document prepares ground for construction plan
  •  Planning: The main priority at the planning stage is to plan the time, cost and resources for the project by developing the roadmap.
  •  Execution: The project manager creates the project team, collects and allocates resources and budget.
  •  Control: The project manager supervises the progress of the project work and updates the project plans to reflect actual performance. This phase includes monitoring the progress and performance of the project.
  •  Completion: The project manager ensures that the outputs provided by the project are accepted by the entity and closes the project team. The final phase of the project represents formal completion. The team generates a project report and calculates the final budget.

 

Role of construction project manager

A construction project manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, budgeting and supervision of the projects from beginning to end. Construction project managers always move the project according to a plan In short, a construction project manager should pay attention to the following:

  • Estimates and negotiates project costs
  • Create budget
  • Creates work schedules
  • Identifies the most efficient methods and strategies for the project
  • Evaluates technical and contract details with workers and other parties.
  • Collaborates with project management and civil engineers
